Born Louth, Lincolnshire. Only Son of Samuel Simpson Brant and Charlotte Patney Brant, of 8, Studley Terrace, Ripon Street, Hedon Road, Hull (CWGC Address). Son of a Lighterman. He had one elder sister, Edith.
He enlisted in Hull. Served in the 1/4th East Yorkshire Regiment. Wounded in action. Died of wounds, on 30/10/1918, aged 19. Buried at Hull Hedon Road Cemetery.
His army effects were left to his mother, Charlotte.
