BORN HULL, 1876. SON OF ALFRED BRANTON (1834-1914) & SUSANNAH ENDERBY (1839-1930), OF PEASE STREET, HULL. HE HAD THREE SISTERS AND ONE BROTHER.

HE MARRIED, GERTRUDE BANKS (1876-1941), ON 27/03/1897, AT ST JAMES CHURCH, HULL. AND RESIDED AT BRIDLINGTON STREET, HULL (1901 CENSUS). HE WORKED AS A DOCK LABOURER, BOARDING ALONE, WITH THE WRIGHT FAMILY, AT 5, WATERHOUSE LANE, HULL (1911 CENSUS)

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH EYR. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 24/04/1915, AGED 39. COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MEMORIAL.

HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE PRINTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 5TH MAY 1915. *

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIFE AND DAUGHTER. HIS WIDOW WAS REFUSED A WAR PENSION AS HER DAUGHTER, NORA (BORN 1900) WAS OVER AGE. GERTRUDE THEN RESIDED AT THE WORKHOUSE INFIRMARY ON BEVERLEY ROAD, HULL, (WAR PENSION RECORDS)
