BORN HULL 1879. ‘SERVED AS BURKE”, BUT WARNER WAS HIS TRUE FAMILY NAME. SON OF JULIA WARNER, OF 1 BEADLE TERRACE, JANE STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS). BROTHER OF CHARLES HENRY WARNER (ARMY EFFECTS RECORDS), EDUCATED AT HULL TRUANTS INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL (1901 CENSUS). HE WORKED AS A GENERAL LABOURER.
HE ENLISTED IN BEVERLEY. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 20/09/1914. SERVED IN ‘B’ COMPANY OF THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE WAS SHOT THROUGH THE HEAD BY A SNIPER, ON 04/02/1915. DIED AGED 26. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES ON 13/02/1915. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, JULIA AND BROTHER CHARLES HENRY WARNER.
