Born Lund, Yorkshire 1899. Son of Thomas Chapmman and Lydia Piercy Chapman, of Lund, Beverley, Yorks. Son of a Gardener. He enlisted in Beverley. Served with the Durham Light Infantry. Was killed in action, on 28/03/1918, aged 19. He left brothers Wilfred, Thomas and sisters, Rita, Mary Jane and Nora. His elder brother, Rifleman, William Albert Chapman, C/12318, 21st King’s Royal Rifle Corps, was killed in action, on 17/09/1916, aged 29.
