BORN HULL 1897. SON OF JOHN WILLIAM CHRISTIE (1862-1906) & MARY ELIZABETH LINFORD (1863-1913), OF 15 CLARK’S SQUARE, SYKES STREET, HULL. HIS BROTHER JOHN WILLIAM CHRISTIE, LIVED AT 48 LILAC AVENUE, GARDEN VILLAGE, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). ONE OF NINE CHILDREN. A FORMER ERRAND BOY. HE WAS WORKING FOR MESSRS, STEWART & CRAIG, HEDON ROAD, HULL WHEN WAR BEGAN.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, AS A SAPPER, IN THE LOCAL ROYAL ENGINEERS. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 11/04/1917, AGED 20. HE IS BURIED IN FRANCE. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE SHARED WITH HIS SIBLINGS, JOHN WILLIAM, DONALS, BELLA, SUSAN, SARAH FOSTER, MINNIE MORGAN & ROSE CHRISTIE. HIS BROTHER, SAPPER, JAMES W. CHRISTIE, ALSO SERVED IN THE ROYAL ENGINEERS.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 23/04/1917. *
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE EAST RIDING ROYAL ENGINEER’S MEMORIAL, AT HULL MINSTER.

Harold Christie is listed in the Hull Daily Mail on the 18th May 1917. On the 23rd April edition, there is a written piece announcing his death with his photo, and an extract from the condolence letter written to his brother by his officer.
