BORN LEEDS 1881. SON OF W & A CLARK, OF 2, ANNS TERRACE, NAPIER TERRACE, NORFOLK STREET, HULL. (WAR PENSION & HDM ADDRESS -27/05/1919).

BEFORE THE WAR HE WORKED FOR THE HULL, ABERDEEN AND NEWCASTLE STEAMSHIP COMPANY.

HIS WIFE, SARAH ELIZABETH CLARK AND THREE CHILDREN LIVED 2, ANNS TERRACE, NAPIER TERRACE, NORFOLK STREET, HULL HE HAD SERVED IN THE BOER WAR WITH THE ROYAL HORSE ARTILLERY.

HE WAS POSTED WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE TO FRANCE, ON 11/09/1914. SERVED AS BOMBARDIER, 6262, ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY, TRENCH MORTAR BATTERY. WAS SERIOUSLY WOUNDED AT POPERINGE, ON THE 15TH SEPTEMBER 1916 AND DIED OF WOUNDS, ONE WEEK LATER.

HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE HULL DISTRICT GARDENER SOCIETY & LISTED ON ST MARY’S CHURCH, MEMORIAL, LOWGATE, HULL.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 27TH SEPTEMBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *

HE LEFT A WIDOW, SARAH ELIZABETH CLARK AND THREE CHILDREN, AT 2 ANNS TERRACE, NAPIER TERRACE, NORFOLK STREET, HULL

HE IS RECORDED AS DIED OF WOUNDS ON HULL’S NAPIER TERRACE ROLL OF HONOUR (Hull Daily Mail 17 October 1916)
