SON OF A COAL TRIMMER. HE WORKED AS A DECK HAND. ENLISTED IN THE ROYAL NAVY ON 03/01/1914. A STOKER, FIRST CLASS. TRANSFERRED TO SUBMARINES. LOST AT SEA, ON HMS ‘K4’, ON 31/01/1918, AGED 21. COMMEMORATED ON THE PORTSMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL.
