BORN HULL 1894. LIVED WITH HIS GRANDPARENTS, BENJAMIN AND MARY BARNICOAT, AT 4, MERRICK STREET, HULL. EDUCATED AT HULL TRINITY HOUSE NAVAL SCHOOL BEFORE THE WAR, HE SERVED AS AN APPRENTICE AT THE WILSON LINE. ON THE OUTBREAK OF WAR HE RECEIVED A COMMISSION WITH THE ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE. HE RECEIVED HIS SEAMAN’S CERTIFICATE ON 30/03/1916. SERVED ON THE YACHT “ZAREFAH”. HE WAS LOST AT SEA ON 8/05/1917, AGED 23.
HE IS LISTED ON CHATHAM HILL NAVAL MEMORIAL AND HULL’S TRINITY HOUSE ROLL OF HONOUR. HIS PHOTO APPEARED IN THE HDM ON 15/05/1917 and 08/05/1918. *
