BORN LEICESTER 1883. SON OF THOMAS DAKIN (1844-1888) AND MARY ANN COSGROVE, OF LOUGHBOROUGH, LEICESTER.
HE ENLISTED HULL WITH HIS BROTHER, MICHAEL JAMES DAKIN, WHO WAS MARRIED AND LIVED AT STANLEY STREET, HULL AND 10, CONVENT LANE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
THOMAS RESIDED IN LEEDS. HE SERVED WITH THE 2ND EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT IN BELGIUM. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, AT HOME, ON 05/05/1915, AGED 32. HE IS BURIED AT LEEDS ROMAN CATHOLIC CEMETERY.
HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, MICHAEL JAMES DAKIN, 1173, 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WAS KILLED AT ARRAS, ON 09/04/1917, AGED 30.
BOTH BROTHERS ARE COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL, AT ST CHARLES CORROMEO CHURCH, JARRATT STREET, HULL (ALTHOUGH THOMAS DAYKIN IS SPELT “DEAKIN” AND HIS BROTHER IS J. DAKIN.
