HE WAS ALSO EMPLOYED AS A METAL MACHINIST. HE ENLISTED IN HULL ON 10/12/1915 , AGED 18 YEARS AND 8 MONTHS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 1 INCH TALL, 32 INCH CHEST, TATTOO ON RIGHT FOREARM. SERVED WITH THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 10/10/1918, AGED 21.
HE IS BURIED AT MONTAY-NEUVILLY ROAD CEMETERY, MONTAY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “AT THE ROLL CALL GOD WILL GIVE US BACK OUR HERO”.
