BORN HULL 1896. SON OF DAVID BATTY DOUGLAS (1853-1941) & ALICE DAWSON (1860-1938) , OF 94 NORTHUMBERLAND AVENUE, HULL AND 53 , LAMBERT STREET, HULL, (CWGC ADDRESS). HIS FATHER WAS A GENERAL LABOURER AT THE LOCAL PAINT WORKS. HE WAS EMPLOYED AS A CLERK AT THE SAME PAINT WORKS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 9.5 INCHES TALL, 147 LBS, 34 INCH CHEST.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 20/01/1916. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 25/06/1916. SERVED WITH THE 10TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WOUNDED IN ACTION, ON 23/07/1916. DIED OF WOUNDS LATER THAT DAY, AGED 20. HE HAD SERVED FOR 227 DAYS AND BEEN AT THE FRONT FOR LESS THAN A MONTH. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE SENT TO HIS MOTHER, ALICE.
