BORN HULL 18/081894. SON OF MICHAEL ANGELO DREWRY (1858-1923) & HARRIET DREWRY (1855-1924), OF 42 FRANKLIN STREET, HULL, (1901 CENSUS) AND 316 HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL (1911 CENSUS). A HAIRDRESSER. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED IN THE ROYAL MARINE LIGHT INFANTRY, PORTSMOUTH BATTALION, ROYAL NAVY DIVISION. KILLED AT GALLIPOLI, ON 06/05/1915, AGED 21. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE HELLES MEMORIAL THERE.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER HARRIET, WHO MOVED TO 24 STANLEY STREET, HIGH OPENSHAW, MANCHESTER (NAVY RECORDS)
HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE HULL DISTRICT GARDENER SOCIETY. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON HULL MINSTER MEMORIAL.
Please note that all Portsmouth Bn. casualties recorded by the CWGC as died on the 6th of May 1915 were most likely killed in the charge up Razor-Back hill, Monash Valley, on the 3rd May 1915, but may have been killed at Anzac Beachhead on any date between 28/04/1915 & 03/05/1915.
