ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 2ND BATTALION, SCOTS GUARDS. HE DIED OF WOUNDS AT 19TH CASUALTY CLEARING STATION, ON 25/09/1918, AGED 33. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, DEBORAH SHIPLEY AND TWO CHILDREN.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON ALL SAINTS CHURCH WAR MEMORIAL, PRESTON. HE IS BURIED IN FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “NOT FORGOTTEN”.
