BORN HULL 1888. ST MARY’S. ENLISTED HORNSEA. SON OF WILLIAM EVERITT (1867-1917) & RUTH SUCH (1860-1917), OF 55, BERKSHIRE STREET, HULL. HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND FOUR SISTERS. A FARM SERVANT. HE ENLISTED AT HORNSEA, ON 29/11/1905. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 9 INCHES TALL, 126 LBS WEIGHT, 35 INCH CHEST, GREY EYES, DARK BROWN HAIR.
A PROFESSIONAL SOLDIER WITH ALMOST TWELVE YEARS SERVICE. HE SERVED IN INDIA FOR OVER 6 YEARS. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 8251 EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE LEFT INDIA AND WAS POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 15/01/1915. PROMOTED SERGEANT IN THE FIELD, ON 27/01/1915. . HE WAS INVALIDED HOME TO ENGLAND, ON 13/02/1915, WITH RHEUMATISM. THEN WENT TO BEVERLEY AS A RECRUITING SERGEANT. FROM THERE, HE WENT TO GRANTHAM TO TRAIN AS A MACHINE GUNNER. HE RETURNED TO FRANCE, ON 14/11/1916. TRANSFERRED AS SERGEANT, TO THE 51ST MACHINE GUN CORPS. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 21/04/2017, AGED 29. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 11 YEARS, AND 144 DAYS. BOTH HIS PARENTS ALSO DIED IN 1917. TWO OTHER BROTHERS WERE SERVING. HE LEFT A WIDOW.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 12/06/1917. *
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, LOUISA VALENTINE EVERITT, AND DAUGHTER, BARBARA (BORN 04/06/1915), AT 13 BRUNSWICK TERRACE, DURHAM STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
