Fall, Clarence Herbert

BORN HULL 1897. SON OF BERTRAM CHARLES & ANNIE FALL, OF 56 SOMERSET STREET, HULL (1918 VOTERS ADDRESS). HE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED ALL OVER THE BODY IN A SHIP EXPLOSION AND SPENT 10 WEEKS IN HOSPITAL AT LERWICK. HIS INJURY IS REPORTED WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 20TH OCTOBER 1915. * HE RECEIVED A WOUND CERTIFICATE, DISCHARGE AND A LIFE PENSION. HE RETURNED TO SERVICE BEING THE BREAD WINNER OF THE FAMILY, SUPPORTING HIS MOTHER, SEVEN SISTERS AND BROTHERS AND HIS FATHER WHO WAS PARALYSED. HE WAS LOST ON THE STEAM TRAWLER SCOTLAND, AGED 21. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 14TH APRIL 1919, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
Built as the SCOTLAND for Hull Steam Fishing & Ice Co Ltd, Hull; Yard No 182; Launch Date: 17/03/1897; Lloyd´s Register 1918-19 No 758; In Jan 1919 sold to B. Knowles, Hull. The Hull trawler SCOTLAND (H348) sunk 15 miles SE of Flamborough Head, possibly mined.
