BORN HULL 1883. SON OF ALFRED FARRAH (1858-1938) & MARIA MORRELL (1862-1948), OF 2, WAWNE STREET, SPRING BANK, HULL. ONE OF SEVEN SONS AND SON IN LAW THAT SERVED IN THE WAR. HE ALSO HAD TWO SISTERS.
EMPLOYED AS A LABOURER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 4 INCHES TALL, 37.5 INCH CHEST, 150 LBS WEIGHT, TATTOO OF FLOWER AND ANCHOR ON LEFT FOREARM.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 28/11/1914. TRAINED AT BEVERLEY AND RIPON. SERVED WITH THE HULL PALS, IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 33. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING, SOMME, FRANCE.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL, AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL.
HE LEFT A WIDOW, KATE FAIRBURN, AND FOUR CHILDREN, LIVING AT 7 CYPRUS WALK, ALEXANDRA STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS). SHE MOVED TO 3, LEONARDS AVENUE, RHODES STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, RICHARD FARRAH, 241924, 5TH BORDER REGIMENT, WAS KILLED AT ARRAS, ON 23/04/1917, AGED 26.
