Fenner, John Prebble

BORN HULL 1895. SON OF THE LATE HENRY JOHN FENNER & JANE ANNIE FENNER WHO LIVED WITH THEIR SIX CHILDREN AT 379, ANLABY ROAD. HE WAS AN OLD HYMERIAN. BEFORE THE WAR HE WORKED FOR FENNER’S HOSE AND BELT MANUFACTURERS.

HE ENLISTED AS A PRIVATE AT THE START OF THE WAR AND SAW ACTION AT THE BATTLES OF LOOS AND YPRES. HE LATER GAINED A COMMISSION. JOHN FENNER DIED OF WOUNDS, ON THE 8TH AUGUST 1917, AGED 23. HE IS LISTED ON ROLL OF HONOUR AT ST MATTHEWS CHURCH, BOULEVARD.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 13TH AUGUST 1917, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
HE LEFT £733 TO HIS MOTHER JANE ANNIE HERBERT, WHO HAD MARRIED THOMAS EVANS HERBERT.
