BORN HACHESTON, YORK, 1878. ELDEST SON OF GEORGE FOLKARD (1841-1923) & LUCY COPPING (1857-1935), OF 22 BRIDLINGTON STREET AND 65 BARMSTON STREET, HULL. HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. A COOPER BY TRADE AND FORMER BLUNDELL & SPENCE WORKER.
HE LIVED BELVEDERE, KENT. ENLISTED IN WOOLWICH, KENT. TRAINED AS A SAPPER, IN THE ROYAL ENGINEERS. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 10/08/1915, AGED 37. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE MENIN GATE TO THE MISSING AT YPRES. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER GEORGE. HE ALSO LEFT FAMILY, ARTHUR, ALICE, ETHELINE.
HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 17TH AUGUST 1915, AND THE HULL TIMES, ON 21ST AUGUST 1915. *
