BORN HULL 1897. SON OF JOSEPH HENRY FOSTER (1872-1952) & MARY JANE NETTLETON, OF 54, FREEHOLD STREET, HULL, 198, NEW BRIDGE ROAD, AND 52, LOUIS STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). ONE OF SIX CHILDREN. A FORMER CRAVEN STREET SCHOOL SCHOLAR, AND SCHOOL TEACHER.
HE ENLISTED IN THE 12TH EYR (HULL PALS), ON 25/10/1915, AGED 19. SENT TO FRANCE ON 16/04/1916. TRANSFERRED TO THE 8TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, ON 15/05/1916. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 14/07/1917, AGED 19. COMMEMORATED AT THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL HE HAD SERVED FOR ONLY 264 DAYS AND BEEN IN FRANCE FOR THREE MONTHS.
