BORN HULL 1898. SON OF TOM EDWARD & ELIZA ANN FOSTER, AT 646, HOLDERNESS ROAD AND 86, VILLAGE ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). EDUCATED AT MERSEY STREET AND CRAVEN STREET SCHOOLS, IN HULL. HE WAS AN ACCOMPLISHED VIOLIN PLAYER. ALSO ON THE ELECTRICAL STAFF OF MESSRS RECKITT’S.
HE ENLISTED MAY 1916. TRAINED IN IRELAND AND SALISBURY. SENT TO FRANCE, FEBRUARY 1917. SERVED WITH THE 2ND SHERWOOD FORESTERS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 07/04/1917, AGED 19.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 21ST APRIL 1917, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
HIS NAME WAS RECORDED ON THE GARDEN VILLAGE, ROLL OF HONOUR AND THE RECKITTS WW1 MEMORIAL.
HE IS BURIED AT VADENCOURT BRITISH CEMETERY, MAISSEMY, AISNE, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION,M READS, “WE CANNOT WITH OUR LOVED ONE BE, BUT TRUST HIM FATHER UNTO THEE”
