LIVED AT 2 ERNEST VILLAS, CROWLE STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND WITH HIS SISTER, MRS MARIA ELIZABETH BOWEN AT 7 MYTON GATE, QUEEN STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS). A FORMER SOLDIER WITH THE 2/5TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIER. HE WORKED AS A DOCK LABOURER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 11.5 INCHES TALL, 138 LBS WEIGHT, AND 37 INCH CHEST SIZE.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 02/03/1916. CALLED UP ON 09/11/1916. FORMERLY PRIVATE, 17450, YORKSHIRE REGIMENT.  POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 03/01/1918. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1/7TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY, ON 06/01/1918. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 13/04/1918, AGED 42. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS ELDER, ONLY SISTER MRS BOWEN.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE PLOEGSTEERT MEMORIAL, HAINAUT, BELGIUM
