ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. HE HAD RETURNED HOME ON LEAVE IN DECEMBER 1918 AFTER THREE YEARS IN FRANCE & HAD SERVED AT YPRES. HE DIED IN A FRENCH HOSPITAL OF RHEUMATIC FEVER.
