Paul Gibbins, paulgibbins13@gmail.com , writes on 11/02/2017:- After many hours researching my great uncle Edwin Ambrose Gibbins, I am sure that he was in 223rd Brigade RFA, not 233rd Brigade. A typo/transcription error seems to have been made in the CWGC records at the time of his death (also in the Hull Daily Mail).
1) 233rd Brigade RFA did not exist at the time of his death, having been broken up during the re-organization in August 1916.
2) The Record of Soldiers’ Effects clearly states “A/223 Brigade”.
3) War diaries clearly show that he was in A Battery 316th Brigade RFA until it was also broken up in August 1916 and he was transferred to A Battery 223rd Brigade. He is actually named.
