BORN HULL 1897. SON OF LEONARD FARROW GREEN (1875-1959) & ETHEL ROSEMAN SAYERS (1877-1928), OF 5 RIPON GROVE, BRUNSWICK AVENUE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
BEFORE THE WAR HE WAS A CLERK FOR THE HULL STEARINE COMPANY.
HE SERVED WITH THE 2/6TH SHERWOOD FORESTERS.
HE WAS WOUNDED NEAR THE GRAMN LINES, ON THE 27TH APRIL 1917 AND STRANDED IN ‘NO MANS LAND’. WHILE WRIGGLING OUT OF HIS EQUIPMENT, HE WAS SHOT BY A SNIPER.
HE WAS HIT TWICE IN THE HEAD, THE EYE, RIGHT ARM, RIGHT THIGH AND RIGHT FOOT. HE WAS 19.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH, IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 24TH MAY 1917. *
