HE ENLISTED IN THE ARMY IN CANTERBURY, KENT. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 7967, EAST KENT REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED AS CORPORAL, TO THE 1/5TH LOYAL NORTH LANCASTER REGIMENT. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 03/06/1917, AGED 29. UNMARRIED. BOTH PARENTS DECEASED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS SISTER, LILY. HE LEFT BROTHERS, WILLIAM AND GEORGE GREENFIELD. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 27/06/1917. *
HE IS BURIED AT VLAMERTINGHE MILITARY CEMETERY, BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, ” MAY HIS REWARD BE AS GREAT AS HIS SACRIFICE”
