BORN KILKELLY, COUNTY MAYO, IRELAND 10/10/1875. SON OF MICHAEL AND BRIDGET GROAK. HIS PARENTS AND SEVEN CHILDREN WERE LIVING IN HULL BY 1891 CENSUS. HIS FATHER WAS A CEMENT MAKER. THOMAS WAS EMPLOYED AS A GENERAL LABOURER.
HE MARRIED IN HULL, 1899. HIS WIDOW LIZZIE ANN HARDCASTLE (1880-1958) & 3 YEAR OLD MARY GROAK, LIVED AT 4, LAMB’S COURT, NEW GEORGE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD TWO SONS JAMES AND JOHN AND A STEP SON, THOMAS HARDCASTLE.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 2ND EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, FOR OVER FOUR YEARS. DIED OF GAS WOUNDS, AT GROVE HILL MILITARY HOSPITAL, TOOTING, LONDON, ON 21/11/1918, AGED 44. HE LEFT A WIDOW, CHILDREN, BROTHERS DICK, JIM & SISTER NELL.
HIS NAME WAS RECORDED ON THE ST CHARLES CHURCH ROLL OF HONOUR, JARRATT STREET, HULL.
BURIED AT HULL HEDON ROAD CEMETERY. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 21/11/1919. *
