HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 10TH DECEMBER 1915. MOBILIZED ON 8TH FEBRUARY 1916. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 22447, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 1ST JULY 1916. TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE, 34453, IN THE 9TH YORK AND LANCASTER REGIMENT, ON 23RD SEPTEMBER 1916. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 01/10/1916, AGED 25.
HE MARRIED AT ST BARNABAS CHURCH, HESSLE ROAD, HULL, 18TH APRIL 1916. HE LEFT WIDOW ADA (MERRIKIN), AT 16 ALBERT AVENUE, WELLSTED STREET, HULL. SHE WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION, OF 13 SHILLINGS AND NINE PENCE, ON 30TH APRIL 1917. SHE HAD NO CHILDREN AND MOVED TO 7 TRAM STREET, BRIDLINGTON.
HIS BROTHER, THIRD ENGINEER, FREDERICK CARL HALEY, WAS LOST ON THE STEAM SHIP “MONTEBELLO”, ON 21/06/1918, AGED 29.
