Born Yarmouth, Norfolk, 30 Dec 1854. son of James Harboard and Mary Ann Spooner.
Married Sarah Ann Eastick, at St. Nicholas, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, on 19 Jan 1884. Husband of Sarah A Mills Eastick, of 14 Princes Avenue West Dock Street Hull (1911 Census) and 24, Tyne Street, Hessle Road, Hull. He had three sons and one daughter Alice Maud (1884-1973). Served in the Merchant Navy as a Trimmer. Lost on the Steam ship “Tors”, on 30/07/1915, aged 50. Commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial, London.
His son Albert drowned on the Steam Trawler “Edward B Cargill”, 18/11/1915. His son Christopher (1892-1918) died at Hull, in 1918, aged 29. His son Ernest George Harboard, died on HMT “Eaglet” in 1920. His wife Sarah lost a fourth son at sea in the war – James Alfred Eastick (1874-1916) from her first marriage.
TORS FV was a British registered trawler of 158 grt built in 1891, Hartlepool-registered and owned by C. Hall. She was mined, probably surface-ship-laid, and sank 43 miles E. of Spurn Head, Humber; 8 lives lost.
