SERVED AS A MUSICIAN IN THE ‘C’ COMPANY, 1ST NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. HE LEFT FOR FRANCE, ON 10/08/1914 WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 27/10/1914, AGED 25. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON LE TOURET MEMORIAL, FRANCE.
