HE WAS EMPLOYED IN THE OFFICE STAFF, OF THE NATIONAL RADIATOR COMPANY, HULL.
HE ENLISTED AT HULL, IN DECEMBER 1915, AT THE AGE OF 17. SERVED WITH THE 2ND EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, AT SALONIKA, ON 24/08/1918, AGED 19. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 06/09/1918. *
HE IS BURIED AT KARASOULI MILITARY CEMETERY, GREECE.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL.
HE HAD TWO BROTHERS, SERVING ON MINESWEEPERS. WILLIAM HENRY HEMSWORTH, 1889-1975, SERVED AT THE SAME ADDRESS – HMS ‘IMPLACABLE’ (and HMS MILFORD HAVEN)
