Leslie Hinson (1898-1916) was from Hessle and probably joined the ERY in late May 1915. He was the son of Arthur Edward & Emily Hinson, of 3, Grove Hill, Hessle.
Leslie Hinson had a very short army career, being killed in a zeppelin raid, on York, on 2nd May 1915. he was killed leading a woman away from the bombing.
He was the ERY’s first war casualty.
Hinson is recorded on the Hessle war memorial.
