BORN HULL 1897. SON OF GEORGE FREDERICK HOLICH (1868-1912) & ADA E ESCREET (1867-1933), OF 4 MYTON PLACE, HULL. ONE OF SEVEN CHILDREN. SON OF A BOOT DEALER. HE WORKED AS AN ERRAND BOY FOR HIS FATHER. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 24941, 13TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE, G/14621, 7TH ROYAL EAST KENT REGIMENT (“THE BUFFS”). KILLED IN ACTION, ON 23/08/1918, AGED 21. COMMEMORATED AT THE VIS-EN ARTOIS MEMORIAL, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ADA.
HIS ONLY BROTHER, GEORGE ARNOLD HOLICH, SERVED IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY AND SURVIVED THE WAR.. HE LEFT FIVE SISTERS, IVY, DORA, BEATRICE, CLAUDIA, AND PHYLLIS.
