BORN HULL 1897. ELDEST SON OF MR THOMAS & JANE HOWLETT, OF 82 BRIDLINGTON STREET, HULL AND THIS CWGC ADDRESS. BEFORE THE WAR WORKED FOR MR ELLIS, BOOT REPAIRER, BEVERLEY ROAD.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, 84613 IN THE ROYAL FLYING CORPS. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WAS CAPTURED IN MAY 1918 AND DIED AS PRISONER OF WAR, ON 15/07/1918, AT RETHEL, AGED 21. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE CLIFTON STREET SCHOOL ROLL OF HONOUR. CWGC ADDRESS.
HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 18TH JULY 1919. *
HE IS BURIED AT RETHEL FRENCH NATIONAL CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “TO MEMORY EVER DEAR”
