BORN HULL 1898. ENLISTED HULL. SON OF LEONARD & SUSAN ARABELLA HUNTER (1868-1941), OF 9, ROSEDALE AVENUE, UPTON STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION & CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. EX RECKITTS WORKER. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A GUNNER IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 24/08/1918, AGED 20. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS HEART BROKEN MOTHER, SUSAN.

HE IS BURIED AT CABARET-ROUGE BRITISH CEMETERY, SOUCHEZ, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE READS, “A MEMORY EVER CHERISHED”

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, SAMUEL HUNTER, 33428, 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WAS ALSO KILLED IN ACTION, ON 12/05/1917, AGED 25. HE WAS THE HUSBAND OF ABIGAIL FORY (FORMERLY HUNTER), OF 9 MALVERN AVENUE, ELLA STREET, HULL. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL.
