BORN HULL 1884. ONLY SON OF JOSEPH RICHARD HUNTER (1856-1904) AND EMILY MOULD (1856-1937), OF 5, ST ANDREW VILLAS, PRINCES ROAD, HULL. HE HAD THREE SISTERS. WORKED AS A JOINER AND SHIP’S CARPENTER.

MARRIED AT HULL, IN JULY 1915. HUSBAND OF MARY JANE FOULSTON AT 36, EDGECUMBE STREET, HULL, (CWGC ADDRESS). LOST AT SEA, ON 01/08/1916, AGED 32. LISTED IN THE HULL MERCHANT NAVY RECORDS & ON ST JOHNS, NEWLAND, WW1 MEMORIAL, CLOUGH ROAD, HULL.

The British cargo/passenger vessel S/S Aaro was sunk on 1st August 1916, by the German submarine U-20 (Walther Schwieger), 25 miles SW of Stavanger. Aaro was on her way from Hull to Christiania. There were 3 casualties.
