BORN WORKINGTON, CUMBERLAND 1898. YOUNGEST SON OF GEORGE JEFFERSON (1851-1934) & ELIZABETH McDOWELL (1858-1933), OF 6, NERO TERRACE, WATERLOO STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF AN IRON WORKER. HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS.
ENLISTED HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 1455, 13TH EYR. SERVED IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. TRANSFERRED AS CORPORAL TO THE 6TH DORSET REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 08/06/1918, AGED 20.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 29/09/1917. HIS PENSION WENT TO HIS PARENTS AND THEN SISTER, MRS CHRISTINA McCLEAREY.
BURIED AT ACHEUX BRITISH CEMETERY, SOMME, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “EVER IN THOUGHT. FROM FATHER & FAMILY”.
