BORN HULL 1896. SON OF GEORGE & SARAH ANN JEROME, OF 2, QUEENS SQUARE, HUMBER STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
HE WAS EMPLOYED AT RECKITT’S CANNISTER WORKS AS A FACTORY HAND AND RESIDED AT 4, JOHN’S PLACE, OSBORNE STREET, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN THE 4TH EYR. TRAINED AT NEWCASTLE, WITH COLONEL SHAW’S FIGHTING FOURTHS AND ARRIVED IN FRANCE IN MARCH 1915. HE WAS WOUNDED IN MAY 1915 AND HIS PHOTOGRAPH WAS PRINTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 25TH MAY 1915. *
HE TRANSFERRED TO THE MACHINE GUN CORPS AND WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 23/04/1917, AGED 21. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING, FRANCE.
