HE WORKED AS A DRAYMAN AND RAILWAY PORTER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5 INCHES TALL, 37.5-41 INCH CHEST, 133LBS WEIGHT AND ROMAN CATHOLIC.
HE MARRIED SELINA DOBSON, AT ST WILFREDS, BOULEVARD, HULL, ON 23/01/1915. HIS WIFE SELINA DOBSON (1892-1960), LIVED AT 167 BEAN STREET, 111 WOODCOCK STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS) AND 20, CONVENT LANE, LINNAEUS STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). THE HAD A YOUNG SON JOSEPH, BORN IN 19/04/1917.
HE ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY, ON 11/12/1915. CALLED UP ON 05/02/1917. TRAINED AT BLYTH, EDENBRIDGE, MILL HLL AND HARPERNDEN. SERVED IN THE 31ST MIDDLESEX REGIMENT. WOUNDED IN THE MOUTH AND SLIGHTLY CONCUSSED, ON 26/03/1917. RETURNED TO ENGAND, ON 22/02/1918. DIED OF PNEUMONIA AND INFLUENZA, AT HULL’S RECKITT’S HOSPITAL, ON 05/11/1918, AGED 27. HE IS BURIED AT HULL WESTERN CEMETERY.
