BORN HULL 1884. ST MARKS PARISH. SON OF ALFRED & AGNES KAY, OF 345 , WINCOLMLEE, HULL. BEFORE THE WAR HE WORKED FOR EAGLE OIL MILLS. HIS SISTER MRS DUNN LIVED AT, 34 DORSET TERRACE, BURLEIGH STREET, HULL.
HE WAS ALSO AN OLD RESERVIST CALLED UP AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR. HE WAS KNOWN AS “DAD KAY” BECAUSE HE WAS CHEERFUL AND ALWAYS READY TO LEND A HAND. HE VOLUNTEERED AS A STRETCHER BEARER 15 MONTHS AGO. HAVING SERVED 12 YEARS, HE HAD ONLY SIX WEEKS TO WAIT FOR HOME LEAVE BEFORE HE WAS KILLED. HE DIED ON 14TH MAY 1917, AGED 33. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH, IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 6TH JUNE 1917. *
HE LEFT TWO SISTERS AND TWO BROTHERS ON ACTIVE SERVICE.
