Keable, Benjamin

BORN HULL 1886. SON OF JAMES KEABLE (1852-1902) & EMMA MOORE (1852-1929), of 22 BRIGHTON TERRACE, OXFORD STREET, HULL, 99, YORK STREET, HULL & 13, VERANDAH TERRACE. SOMERSCALES STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE WAS A GENERAL LABOURER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. POSTED TO FRANCE ON 13/07/1915. KILLED IN ACTION on 29/07/1917, AGED 31, DURING A SUCCESSFUL NIGHT TRENCH RAID, NORTH OF ROEUX (SEVEN MILITARY MEDALS WERE AWARDED). HE WAS UNMARRIED AND HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, BROTHERS AND SISTERS.

HE IS BURIED AT BROWN’S COPSE CEMETERY, ROEUX, FRANCE.

HIS BROTHER, JAMES WILLIAM KEABLE, LIVED AT 112 YORK STREET. HIS OTHER BROTHER, PRIVATE, THOMAS KEABLE, 2ND EYR, WAS SERIOUSLY WOUNDED (HDM 18/05/1915). HIS NEPHEW, JAMES KEABLE, JOINED THE SAME REGIMENT, WON THE MILITARY MEDAL AND DIED IN 1918.
