HE WAS A RECKITT’S STARCH LABOURER, LIVING WITH HIS MARRIED SISTER, ANNIE GARBUTT, AT 29, FLEET STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS).

WIFE MAUD LIVED AT 61 YORK AVENUE, CROSBY.

HE ENLISTED AT WARRINGTON. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 16/08/1914. SERVED IN THE 2ND DIVISIONAL AMMUNITION COLUMN AND 116TH ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 30/07/1916, AGED 35. BURIED AT DANTZIG ALLEY BRITISH CEMETERY, MAMETZ.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TOHIS BROTHERS, HARRY & FRED AND HIS SISTERS, MRS ANNE GARBUTT, HILDA PARKER, MARY E. BANCROFT, ELSIE AND HALF SISTER, MABEL.
