Kim Semmence writes on 07/11/2015: Although the collection Soldiers Died in WW1 give his name as John Welland, the Register of Effects has him as John William Knight, with a wife Alice E Knight. I have a 1907 marriage for John Wm Knight and Alice Emma Hardy (1888–1959) and in 1907 they were with the in-laws. Children: George William (1908), Alice E (1913) and Violet L (1916).
His parents are most likely Albert James Knight and Sarah Elizabeth Bilton, who were married at St Charles. For some reason J W wasn’t with them in 1891 (when they were in Scawby) and by 1901 Albert was with his brother in Attercliffe.
