
BORN HULL, 1898. SON OF FREDERICK AND ALICE CLARA LANGHORNE, OF 15 WAXHOLME ROAD, WITHERNSEA, HULL. SON OF A HUMBER MERCHANT CLERK. HE HAD ONE BROTHER AND TWO SISTERS.
ENLISTED WITHERNSEA. SERVED AS A TROOPER, IN THE HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 10/10/1917, AGED 19. COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL, BELGIUM.
HIS OTHER BROTHER, SIGNALLER, FRED LANGHORNE, 267389, 1/6TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS, WAS KILLED ON 27 MAY 1918, AGED 21. COMMEMORATED ON THE SOISSONS MEMORIAL, FRANCE.
BOTH BROTHERS ARE COMMEMORATED ON THE WITHERNSEA WW1 MEMORIAL. The memorial was erected in 1923 at a cost of £451, the funds for which were collected through public subscription. A service of dedication was held in 1924. Inscribed in four columns, are the names of sixty-four men killed in World War I.
