BORN LEEDS 1883. SON OF HENRY BROWN & ELLEN GERTRUDE SAGG. A DOCK LABOURER.

HE MARRIED, GERTRUDE MAY WILES, AT HULL, IN 1904. HE WIFE, GERTRUDE MAY BROWN (1886-1973) AND THEIR FOUR CHILDREN, LIVED AT 90, CLIFTON TERRACE, GOODWIN STREET, HULL (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS) AND LATER CUMBERLAND STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION RECORDS).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WAS KILLED IN ACTION, AT YPRES, ON 24/11/1915, AGED 32. COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, BELGIUM.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, GERTRUDE MIDDLETON AND THREE DAUGHTERS, ELIZA, ELLEN AND OLIVE, WHO MOVED TO 2 HIDE SQUARE, CUMBERLAND STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). GERTRUDE LATER EMIGRATED TO PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA, WITH MS BLASHILL BECOMING THE GUARDIAN FOR HER CHILDREN.
