BORN HULL 1890. SON OF BENJAMIN LOMAX (1845-1913) AND SARAH JANE SADLER (1861-1935), OF 42, RYDE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. HIS BROTHER, ROBERT CATLIN LOMAX (1889-1914) DIED IN HULL AGED 25, JUST BEFORE WW1 STARTED.
HE WORKED AS A COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 4 INCHES TALL, 33-35 INCH CHEST, 123 LBS WEIGHT,
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 24/11/1915. CALLED UP ON 11/05/1917. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 38349, EYR. TRANSFERRED TO THE 15TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 20/08/1917. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 21/03/1918, AGED 27.
HE LEFT £164 IN HIS WILL AND HIS ARMY MEDALS AND EFFECTS TO HIS MOTHER, SARAH JANE.
HIS MEDALS AND BRONZE PLAQUE WERE STOLEN AND FOUND ON THE HOUSEBREAKER WHEN ARRESTED.
HE IS COMMEMORATED AT ST JOHNS NEWLAND, CLOUGH ROAD, HULL.
