BORN HULL 1887. SON OF JOHN HARLAND LONGTHORN (1864-1911) AND ANNIE ELIZABETH HALL (1865-1950). HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS.
SKIPPER OF THE HULL TRAWLER ‘CELIA’. HE LODGED WITH MRS CAIN AT THIS ADDRESS. HE WAS ENGAGED TO BE MARRIED. HIS FATHER HAD DIED THREE YEARS BEFORE AND HE WAS THE MAIN SUPPORT FOR HIS WIDOWED MOTHER. HE WAS LOST AT SEA, AGED 27. HIS DETAILS ARE RECORDED IN THE LOST TRAWLERMEN OF HULL RECORDS. HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 4TH FEBRUARY 1915. *
On January 8th, 1915, the British trawler CELIA went missing in the North Sea. She was not heard of ever since and was probably sunk by enemy action. 9 crew lost their lives.
