BORN HULL 1899. SON OF HOWELL LYNE (1850-1925) & EMMA LORD (1859- 1939), OF 34, CLARENDON STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS) & 3, PRYME STREET, HULL. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND FOUR SISTERS. A FORMER LOCOMOTIVE CLEANER FOR THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAYS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5 INCHES TALL, 112 LBS WEIGHT, 34 INCH CHEST.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 02/03/1916. CALLED UP ON 24/08/1917. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 01/04/1918. SERVED WITH THE 22ND DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. ATTACHED TO MACHINE GUN CORPS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 27/05/1918, AGED 19. SERVED A TOTAL OF 277 DAYS IN THE ARMY. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE SOISSONS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING, AISNE, FRANCE. UNMARRIED.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, EMMA, AND SHARED WITH ALL HIS BROTHERS AND SISTERS.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 27TH JANUARY 1919, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
