BORN HULL 03/09/1893. SON OF FANNY CARMICHAEL (1859-1943) & THE LATE WILLIAM MAGEE (1852-1910). HIS FATHER WAS BORN IN IRLEAND,. HIS MOTHER BORN IN HULL. HE HAD EIGHT BROTHERS AND FIVE SISTERS. HE WAS THE FIRST ENGINEER, ON THE STEAM SHIP, ‘MENZALEH’, AND WAS DROWNED, WHEN ATTACKED BY AN ENEMY SUBMARINE, ON 06/06/1918, AGED 25.

HE IS LISTED ON THE HULL TECHNICAL COLLEGE WW1 MEMORIAL, PARK STREET, HULL.
HIS BROTHER JAMES MAGEE LIVED 67, REDBOURNE STREET, HULL. HIS TWIN BROTHERS, THOMAS HENRY MAGEE DIED ON 05/08/1917, AGED 30. HIS BROTHER FREDERICK THOMAS MAGEE ALSO DIED IN 1917, AGED 30. THE BROTHERS ARE RECORDED ON THE FAMILY GRAVE IN HULL WESTERN CEMETERY.

Jan Lettens 06/04/2011 SS Menzaleh, built by Hall, Russell & Co., Aberdeen in 1888 and owned at the time of her loss by Khedivial Mail SS. & Graving Dock Co. Ltd., London, was a British steamer of 1859 tons. On June 6th, 1918, Menzaleh was on a voyage from Alexandria to Bristol with a cargo of cottonseed, when she was sunk by the German submarine UB-105 (Wilhelm Marschall), 230 miles ESE from Malta. 10 persons were lost.
