SON OF A PLATER’S HELPER, FROM GREENWICH, LONDON. HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER. HE WAS DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 7 INCHES TALL, 37 INCH CHEST, BROWN EYES, & BROWN HAIR, FRESH COMPLEXION.
HE ENLISTED IN THE ROYAL NAVY, ON 29TH NOVEMBER 1914. SERVED AS A STOKER ON HMS “INVINCINLE”, ON 3RD JUNE 1915. DROWNED AT THE BATTLE OF JUTLAND, ON 31/05/1916, AGED 19. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON ST MARYS CHURCH, LOWGATE MEMORIAL. & THE PORTSMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL.
