HE SERVED IN THE MERCHANT NAVY, AS TRIMMER, ON THE STEAM TRAWLER, “WINDWARD HO”. LOST AT SEA, ON 09/05/1917, AGED 34. HIS WIFE LIVED AT 81, WITTY STREET, HULL (NAVAL ADDRESS).
The fishing vessel, WINDWARD HO (H 692) was a British registered steam trawler of 226grt. On the 9th May 1917, when 3 miles S from Peterhead, she was mined and sunk by German submarine UC-40 (Alfred Arnold). 8 lives lost including Skipper.
